Since I haven't been writing Edge very quickly, I figured I'd do another "Edge Facts" Journal XD lol. For any of you who care...Because I was bored. This session deals more with the birth... Or rather 'spawning' of Edge. Any further questions appreciated! Enjoy and thanks for reading!!!!




THE PLOTTING OF IT ALL:

* Edge was origionaly a title-less joke among friends. Someone sugested that I write about gay guys and I said, "I'll do one better! I'm going to write gay porn!" And that's what the Preface was to me... My imagination got the best of me and I decided to turn it into a short story. Friend's still refer to Edge as 'that gay-porn you were working on.'

* I was trying to avoid making the story about werewolves in the begining. I toyed with the idea of having Elliot's family be a sort of 'angel' creature. I dissmissed the idea when I realized how much more complicated my story line would be if fights and such had to take place in the air and almost immediatly reverted back to my origional idea.

*The story was much shorter... And I mean MUCH shorter. It was suposed to end sometime after Gideon's kidnapping. Abel was never suposed to be kidnaped in the first place and nothing that happened after was meant to be... No where near as interesting.

* During the piece where Abel is kidnapped, I concidered making the story even LONGER. I played with the idea of Lazarus taking Abel to a sort of 'Wolf Black Market' and either trying to sell him or getting him a collar like Rafael's. It would have just taken away from the main plot, so I scrapped the idea.

THE CHARACTERS:

* When deciding who the villian in my story would be, I settled on a single character named Lucius. When I thought he would be too boring (having a personality like a Dante, Lazarus love-child) I split him in two: Cirrus and, later, Rafael. After, I decided to build a whole pack and back story around them (Thus, Lazarus and Murrow)

* I wanted there to be another slave in the Lazarus pack aside from Rafael- a weaker character who was 'flawed' and wound up being blind, relying on Rafael for nearly everything. Fitting him into the story became too complicated and took away from the relationship between Cirrus and Rafael so he was quickly scrapped before he was even given a name.

* Gideon was origionaly designed as a fifteen year old boy with no problems (health wise) what-so-ever. I can't honestly say what made me make him into a sick, handicapped, twelve year old.

* Angel was modeled after my younger sister. Pity me. (My sister's personality has changed somewhat since I designed my characters... but still...)

* When I made Dante and Elliot, I bascially went like this: "I'm going to make two characters who look and act as polar oposite as eachother as possible while still being able to live togeather! Haha!"

* Rafael was suposed to be a chain-smoker in my first design of him, but I kept forgetting to include this fact in the story so it faded away.

* Rafael was suposed to not have any humor at all. His personality, as I first designed him, was completely diffrent. Instead of covering his sadness with humor, he simply did nothing. He was a blank, empty slate having to real emotion or personality what-so-ever. Kind of like Dante, except a misserable, raped, enslaved version.
I had to change this when I decided to create a friendship between he and Abel. At first, they weren't suposed to meet and get to talk until Abel's kidnapping. I fell in love with Rafael rather quickly, though, and dumped more of my own personality into him until he became what he is: the comic relief in an otherwise grim tale.

ERRORS POINTED OUT:
(Fixed in my own personal copy of Edge thanks to my readers who have pointed these mistakes out/ my OCD with re-reading Edge for errors.)

* Dante's eyes switch from brown to gray at some point in the plot.

* Abel and his mom ride into town in an old Mini-van that somehow inexplicable morphs into an old red mustang.

* While Elliot is telling his story, the ages of he and his sisters doesn't match up with his time skips.

* I forget to mention the reason why Abel has no computer.

* Some people concider the fact that Elliot claims Dante learned Italian from living in Barcelona (which is in spain, not Italy) But it's really a result of Elliot not being able to think of a quick, believable lie to tell Abel since he doesn't know about the wolves yet.

* In the first draft of Edge, Elliot and Dante claim that silver hurting wolves is just a myth when the fact that it isn't sometimes plays a vital part in the plot.

(Did I miss any? Other than spelling and such?)

EXTRAS:


* I used my own school/ parts of my town as the model for Edge. This includes the naming of places such as 'The Catch- The Ketch" and "Forked River" (pronounced Fork-id River by locals XD)

* My friend and I make a guest apearance in Edge while Elliot and Abel are walking through the park: "...I let my attention draw to two girls sitting on an upcoming park bench, both dressed in dark clothes. One, with hair looking like it had been dyed every color of the rainbow at least once, licked at an ice cream cone. The other, shorter, girl was wearing a gray winter's hat, despite the summer's heat...."

* The word 'Saw' doesn't really exist in Abel's vocabulary because it doesn't exist in mine. He 'seen' everything. "I seen him yesterday..." "I seen him do it..." "You seen me?" Ect... This is because this is how people talk sometimes in the area of Jersey I live in. I justify this because Abel, too is from Jersey. It does, however, when I switch perspectives between the characters (in my personaly, final copy)
